Short-term health insurance plans are only intended for those people or families that expect to be receiving full coverage health insurance in the immediate future. Since short-term health insurance plans only extend coverage for interim periods of time (between 1-6 months), it is not recommended that short-term health insurance be purchased if you are uncertain about your health insurance future.
Short-term health insurance only provides coverage for unplanned visits to the hospital. In other words, short-term health insurance plans will never provide health care coverage for routine health care, preventive health care and immunizations or dental and eye care. Moreover, short-term health insurance plans provide health insurance coverage for a limited time frame and once that period has passed, it may be difficult to purchase additional, permanent health insurance plans depending on the condition of your health.
