Q: I have a question: can you explain how a deductible/co-insurance works? do i have to pay this huge deductible before my insurance kicks in?
A: The deductible is the amount that the client is responsible before the insurance company begins to pay. However, there are many "first dollar" benefits where the insurance company pays 100% of the coverage before the deductible even applies!
Q: Why is buying my own insurance SO much more expensive than going through my employer?
A: Buying your own insurance is actually LESS expensive that going through your employer (unless your employer is paying 100% of the cost of your coverage). More and more the trend is that employers are passing a higher and higher portion of the cost of the group plan on to their employees. Therefore, most employees can find insurance at a lower cost by purchasing an Individual Health Insurance plan!
