As the name implies, travel health insurance plans only provide health insurance benefits if you are traveling outside of the United States. On the travel health insurance application, you will be required to identify the dates of departure and return. Travel health insurance plans will begin on the day of departure and end on the day of return.
Travel health insurance plans are not comprehensive and will only provide benefits for unexpected illness or accidental injury. This means that preventive care including immunizations, treatment of pre-existing conditions, drug treatments, maternity treatment or other health expenses determined to be medically unnecessary will not be covered by the travel health insurance plan.
