Through all of November and December we’ve been rigorously raising money for the Bear Hug Foundation; an organization that sends underprivileged, at-risk, and developmentally challenged youth to a summer camp in northern Michigan.

Summer is officially over and Fall is here. For those of you that lament the coming of Winter, here’s some things to do outside before it gets too cold! (and fun things to do inside as well)

-Live Football and Soccer Games: Got kids in school who are in sports? Now you have plenty of opportunities to see them at their games! For added fun, become that obnoxious parent-cheerleader.

-National Football: Let’s face it; your kid’s game may be exciting, but nothing beats the NFL. The football madness is in full swing this time of year; invite over friends to watch the big games.

We inspired greatness in each other and trained for months (each week drinking just a little more beer), and on June 5, 2011, we came through like champs at the Dexter – Ann Arbor Run. Special thanks to the City of Ann Arbor (coolest cops on the planet), and to everyone who helped us exceed our goal – we raised $5,500 for Alex and his parents report he is doing well. Hang in there little man – the run may be over but we’re still rooting for you!

Directly from our daredevil CFO…I followed this thermal from Whitmore Lake to Brighton at 9:30 last night. It went from pretty to pretty scary. Lightning and high winds began with the cloud forming a funnel.

I just remember thinking how fortunate I was to have life insurance as I stood in the path of the beast! My thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this seasons severe weather.

MyInsuranceExpert.com Accidently Leaks Ad Pitch

Insurance Firm CEO Sends Confidential Email to Entire Mailing List

(Troy, MI) – On Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 4:45 p.m., Lorne Zalesin, CEO of online life insurance brokerage firm MyInsuranceExpert.com, inadvertently sent a confidential email to the company’s entire mailing list.

The email was intended to solicit feedback from MyInsuranceExpert.com’s leadership team, board and investors about advertising concepts presented by the company’s ad agency. Zalesin was concerned that MyInsuranceExpert.com’s customers and prospects might find the concepts offensive. Making matters worse, the concepts in question were attached to the email.

On June 5, a team of runners (and walkers) from MyInsuranceExpert.com called “Follow Me to the Beer Tent” will be participating in the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run. We’ve chosen to donate our sweat to Alex’s Army to benefit 3-year-old Alex Mandarino. This cause is close to our hearts, as Alex is a family member of one of our Advisors.

On Monday, March 14th, Alex’s family got the devastating news that he has a rare cancer called neuroblastoma. The primary tumor has been removed, but not before the cancer spread to many parts of his bone marrow making his condition a critical stage 4. Alex’s best chance of recovery is an expensive experimental treatment which is not covered by his health insurance.
