Wow; that’s great things worked out well for you! It seems like the Gastric Bypass is a pretty severe and slightly (if not immensely) scary operation, but I’m glad people are able to find success results through it. Do you currently have life insurance or have you started shopping for it?

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2010 and, thus far, I’ve lost 230 pounds. I know recent surgeries aren’t great for life insurance premiums but having such a massive drop in weight has reduced by BMI to the “healthy” range and has significantly improved my cholesterol, blood pressure, sleep apnea and other issues. By the way, I’m 26 years old. So, I believe gastric bypass has prolonged my lifespan significantly and will help my life insurance rate, too, even if it will take years for me to see the improvement.

I speak with clients everyday who only buy policies for the “working” spouse, or who buy just enough to bury the “non-working” spouse. They don’t realize the cost of replacing a loved one is immeasurable, and the amount of stress of trying to do so during a time of crisis. Furthermore, just because a single mother or father may not be currently employed, if they ever decide to work, the cost of life insurance could be drastically more expensive the older they get. Also they may not longer qualify for a policy at that time due to health reasons.

I can’t imagine how scared I would be if I didn’t have coverage on my partner and I’m sure she feels the same way. There is such a piece of mind knowing that if one of us goes the other can still live the life we’ve planned together

Maintaining your spouse’s lifestyle is so important. If something happens to me, I want my husband to be able to mourn and to have the means to do so, not scramble to pay our bills!
