The Chicken and the Eagle

March 7, 2011

Jason Rudd shares a classic parable of thwarted potential. At some point in our lives, we’ve all been told we “can’t” do something. But as long as we’re still breathing, we’ve still got a chance to try. And we just might end up soaring.

Life Insurance Check-up

March 1, 2011

By: MyInsuranceExpert

If your life is changing (and whose isn’t!), your life insurance needs are changing, too. In our world, birthdays mark not only another year older and wiser, but often a higher life insurance rating. Having children, marriage or divorce, losing a job or starting a new business- all of these are reasons to take pause and think about the security of our loved ones.

Artie Knows

February 22, 2011

By: MyInsuranceExpert

There is no such thing as “one size fits all” life insurance pricing. The price you pay for your policy is based on your individual risk rating, which is primarily based on your build (height and weight), smoking status, and health history (past and ongoing medical conditions and medications). Everyone’s risk rating is different, and the higher the risk you represent to the insurance company, the higher the price they are going to charge to cover you.

Many agents tell their clients (or should we say “sell” their clients) low rates and take them through the entire application process only to discover later that they were not approved for the quoted price.

Balsamic Vinegar in Italy

February 17, 2011

By Dr. Andrew Weil

On a trip through northern Italy, I had a chance to taste one of the world’s finest balsamic vinegars, produced for the Lucini Italia company. The operation in the province of Modena is unique in that the grapes are harvested, crushed, reduced, cask-aged and bottled on the same estate. The tour was fascinating; the flavor, incomparable.

Balsamic vinegar is made from a reduction of syrup from sweet wine grapes. The syrup is stored under controlled atmospheric conditions as it slowly turns into vinegar. The Gran Reserva Lucini balsamic is aged here for 10 years.
