This is it folks! Our month-long fundraising effort is culminating into a mega-party in downtown Detroit!

Been out of the loop? Raise Your Glass is the party that MyInsuranceExpert.com has donated to charity. Through all of November and December we’ve been rigorously raising money for the Bear Hug Foundation; an organization that sends underprivileged, at-risk, and developmentally challenged youth to a summer camp in northern Michigan.

These are kids that have never been out of city limits, and have yet to experience the great outdoors! Not only will they have a fun retreat from their everyday struggles, but will also have the opportunity to learn team-building, communication skills, and problem-solving. This is a great way to empower our youth, which in turns helps enrich our city of Detroit.

When we set out with a goal of raising $15,000, we felt optimistic. Some people felt the goal was too far-reaching, but after raising $11,000 for a similar, yet smaller event the year before, we were confident we can meet the new goal.

And then our CEO, Lorne Zalesin, felt otherwise; he doubled the goal to $30,000. This made many of us nervous.

But at the time of writing, we’ve so far raised $18,740! We’ve had amazing support from friends, family members, and affiliated companies. And several local organizations have also generously donated over 30 different raffle items, ranging from gift cards, to clothing and swag, a Fathead, an iPod Touch, huge baskets of Patron bottles, and much more. The amount of dedication to this event has been truly moving. And we still have a ways to go. Many more individuals and businesses will continue to donate even after our party tonight. There isn’t any more doubt that we will reach our ambitious goal.
