As we all well know, the House of Representatives are on their summer recess, but that doesn’t mean their work on the health care reform is on hold. Members are now taking the discussion back to town halls in their local districts. There, they hope to hold discussion forums on the health care reform in an attempt to educate constituents on the progress that has been made, answer questions, and also gain insightful comments from the American people.

The problem is that there has been tremendous opposition by small groups flooding these meetings and being loud and disruptive. This is a catalyst for disaster. These meeting should be utilized to become educated on the items of discussion, as well as contribute ideas that will aid in the manufacturing of a health care reform that will work.

Personally, I believe there are a couple ways to improve the health insurance/care of this country.

1. Have a mandate for individual health insurance in conjunction with a graduated tax benefit for people who purchase it.
   1. This would provide portable coverage for everyone, and also make it more affordable.
2. I believe it is important to have an exchange, but without a public option.
   1. This would promote competitive prices by private insurance carriers.
3. Reimbursements to health care providers would not be undercut by a government offered plan.
4. Have every private carrier have a guaranteed issue plan.
   1. This way everyone could get coverage.
   2. The exchange would increase.
   3. And the risk of insuring “high-risk” individuals would be offset by greater options making it more affordable for carriers to offer coverage.

We must to work together on this project in a positive manner in an attempt to create a bipartisan bill. This could be a huge step for our country- something that hasn’t been accomplished in over 50 years.
