Veterans and Health Insurance

Lorne

Today, it is required that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provide veterans who qualify with hospital and outpatient care. The care provided includes various treatments, supplies, or other services for our veterans.

Factors that influence eligibility and enrollment:

VA health care is something that one must qualify for, and as a result there is an application process involved. There are a number of different variables which will impact whether or not you qualify. Variables involved include:

1. status of discharge
2. how long your service period was
3. income level
4. disabilities obtained from your service

Another thing to consider when looking into VA benefits is that even if you qualify, you will be assigned a priority group ranging between 1 & 8. The VA has implemented priority groups to better assign a health care policy that will best fit what they believe your needs are. For example, priority group one is given the highest priority, and is assigned to veterans who have disabilities 50% or more disabling that resulted from their service period.

To find out more about your chances for approval with the VA, or what priority group you qualify for contact the VA. If you are unsatisfied with the coverage offered or do not qualify for VA benefits, please contact us at MyInsuranceExpert.com to discuss additional health insurance options.
